APPROACH

The EUROPEAN INDUSTRIAL SHOEMAKER training course covers all aspects of footwear manufacturing. The production process is the core part of the curriculum, but the trainees will also get insights into fit and comfort, last making, footwear types and construction methods, design, pattern making, materials, calculation, manufacturing processes and machinery as well as process organisation.

The project aims to:

  • impart the latest information on new technologies and materials in order to equip VET students with state-of-the-art skills and competences;
  • establish a European Shoemaker training pathway in order to implement comparable training standards for skilled footwear workers all throughout Europe;
  • Create a VET training pathway for skilled workers in the footwear industry in Poland.

ELEMENTS

The innovative elements of the project comprise:

  • Development of a harmonised vocational profile and training pathway of the EUROPEAN INDUSTRIAL SHOEMAKER according to ECVET standards, which encompasses state-of-the-art technologies and processes.
  • Transfer of VET concepts and best practices from European countries with a long tradition in footwear training to others like Poland, where the training of skilled footwear workers currently is more or less just an on-the-job-training.

THE EU SHOES LEARNING EXPERIENCE

The training materials will be provided through a Smart Learning Environment, i.e. an easy-to-use interactive platform, where all training units will be available to students, VET centres and SMEs, thus to be exploited according to individual needs.
